2011 Taiwanese American Community Service Scholarship Award

Purpose:

The purpose of this scholarship is to raise public awareness of Taiwanese American civic involvements in community services in the Greater Seattle area.

Taiwanese American Scholarship prize:

  • There will be seven recipients for the Greater Seattle Area.
  • The eight recipients will receive a one-time cash award of $750.

Eligibility:

  • Current college-bound high school graduating seniors, residing in the Greater Seattle area.

Requirements:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.

Application Deadline:

The deadline for applications is April 30th, 2011.

Application Process:

  1. Complete the application form. Obtain high school transcript and two recommendation letters.
  2. Compose & enclose a 500 word essay, Subject:  Describe your local community involvement and community service!
  3. Mail the application, along with essay, high school transcript, and recommendation letters to the address below:

  4. All Application materials must be received by April 30th, 2011.
  5. Scholarship recipients are required to send in a headshot picture for TAPS’ press release, and use on its website.
  6. There will be an award ceremony for the scholarship winners in end of May or early Jun 2011. Scholarship winners and their relatives are invited to this event.

Selection Process:

The Scholarship Committee will screen all applications and make the final selection of award recipient, at their sole discretion, using the following criteria:

  • 500-word essay about the applicant’s community involvement
  • Academic achievement
  • Overall qualification

The process will take approximately one week. We will announce the recipients of the scholarship in the first week of May.
