About TAP

Mission Statement

Taiwanese American Professionals (TAP) enhances the Taiwanese American community by networking individuals interested in professional and career development, while emphasizing the preservation of Taiwanese American identity. TAP provides resources and programs that inspire and empower, and help develop and support professionals to become community-oriented leaders.

As part of the local community and under the Taiwanese American Citizens League, TAP focuses on Leadership, Identity, Networking, and Citizenship.

TAP is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization through its parent, Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL).

TAPS and TAP-Seattle

In March 2004, a group of energetic Taiwanese American professionals in the Greater Seattle area formed an organization that would provide a platform for young Taiwanese and Asian Americans to network and support each other.

The inaugural TAPS event was a Career Panel held at the Taiwan Center on April 2004. To our delight, the panel of seasoned professionals held a lively discussion with 40-50 attendees. From there, TAPS grew from the original few to over 500 members of all ethnicity and races.

Our TAPS members began to set up committees and additional ad hoc committees in:

  • Professional Development
  • Cultural
  • Social
  • Community Service

TAPS regularly hosted social/networking events such as Jia Bun (dining out), Lim Jiu (happy hours), ice-skating, and hiking.

Our community service efforts flourished with projects such as the Mentorship Program, Scholarship Program for high school students, holiday toy drive and other community outreach and educational events. TAPS also held special events like auction fundraisers, indoor rock-climbing, Lunar Valentines Day Scavenger Hunt, group kayaking, and more.

In 2014, TAPS became TAP-Seattle under the nationwide Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL) with over a 40 year history. TAP-Seattle joined other Taiwanese American Professionals (TAP) chapters across the country:

Going forward, we welcome your ideas and suggestions for activities and events. If you are interested in joining our committees or should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
